JUUL LABS CONGRATULATES WE CARD AS THEY CELEBRATE 25 YEARS PREVENTING UNDERAGE USE

Underage Use Prevention

October 9, 2020

Juul Labs’ commitment to combat underage use is a key priority as the company works to help reset the vapor category. We are focused on listening and building constructive relationships with regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders to earn a license to operate in society. We partner with key organizations that share in our desire to restrict underage access of vapor products to protect the historic opportunity to provide these products to adult smokers.

We Card, a leader in preventing underage access of all age-restricted products, just celebrated its 25th Anniversary, and Juul Labs is proud to collaborate with them in our efforts to combat underage use of vapor products.

The We Card Program, Inc. is a national non-profit organization serving the nation’s retailers of tobacco, including vapor, alcohol and other age-restricted products. Individual retail establishments as well as large retail chains utilize We Card’s educational and training services for their compliance efforts with federal, state and local laws on preventing age-restricted product sales to minors.

We Card’s industry-leading efforts complement our ongoing actions to create a more responsible marketplace for vapor products and emphasize the importance of enhanced access controls to accelerate the decline in underage use. Enhanced access controls utilize currently available technology to ensure age-verification through electronic ID scanning or other automated, software-based measures and limit the amount of product that can be purchased to reduce social sourcing. Juul Labs recently launched POS Portal, an online store offering affordable 2D scanners required for retailers to employ enhanced access controls. We Card, as a Best Practice, recommends ID scanning and offers a website link to the ID scanner ordering portal, which is an added resource to help retailers understand and adopt electronic ID scanning technology.

Juul Labs is proud to have a seat on the We Card Advisory Council as we continue to productively work with We Card to align on industry best practices.

Juul Labs is dedicated to combating underage use and earning trust by working with key stakeholders throughout the country. Collaborations like this are key building blocks to that process, and we’re happy to continue to implement these programs and others as we strive to create a more responsible marketplace for vapor products.
